Teaching and learning strategies

First we need to understand what does mean and strategy.
Strategies are specific behaviors or thought processes that students use to enhance their own L2 learning.
Strategies need to fulfill some conditions like:
1) Relates well to the L2 task at hand.
2) Fits the particular students learning style
3) The students employ the strategy effectively
There are 6 main categories of strategies:
1) Cognitive: Enable the learner to manipulate the language material in direct ways: Reasoning, analysis, note taking, summarizing, synthesizing, out lining and reorganizing process.
2) Metacognitive Strategies: Identifying ones ‘own learning style preferences needs and planning. It is to managing the learning process overall.
3) Memory relates strategies: It is helping the learner’s link one L2 item or concept with other: Rhyming, acronyms, images, combination images and sounds etc.
4) Compensatory Strategies: Guessing from the context in listening and reading, using synonyms and talking around the messing word. It is helping the learner to make up for missing knowledge.
5) Affective Strategies: Talking about feeling rewarding oneself for good performance and it is related to positive talking.
6) Social Strategies: This interaction aspect of learning. It is working with others. Ask them questions to get verification, asking verification of a confusing point asking for help.

Also we found that there are some sensory preferences:
Visual: They like to read. This is according to vision simulation
Auditory: Classroom interaction, role play, debates
Kinesthetic: A lot of movements they like to work with tangible objects collages and flash cards, frequent breaks and they like to move around

And more than this we also found in our classroom different personalities types, like Extroverted vs introverted, intuitive Random vs Sensing Sequential, thinking vs Feelings etc that as a teacher we need to identify them and help to feel comfortable in their learning process.
As teachers we need to be guides and not to force them to do something that is going to cause a stop in their progress
